5 Reasons Why Quarantine Is Positive

The news has been full of negative stories, as well as the media during this time in quarantine. We’ve seen death, violence, and fear being strewn across the internet for all people to see. So, today, I want to take a step back and see what good has and can come out of this year.

I won’t get political. That’s not my goal. I’m not going to express feelings for one side over the other. It’s not fair to you, the reader, to take in such opinionated information. There are already enough sources that do that to you. This space is not for personal beliefs or opinions, today. I’m just going to state the unpopular but very real facts that get overshadowed by the bad.

Family

First off, we get to be with our families. It’s a blessing to even be with my family for a weekend since school takes so much of my time. And I live at home! Quarantine has given all of us the chance to spend some quality time with our families and that is a positive. There will probably never be another time like the present to grow even closer to those who love and support me.

Exercise

Second, there are more chances to get active. Many people live very sedentary lives — I was and still am one of them — so, the exercise has improved our collective health in physical ways! Since it is known that those who have compromised systems are more affected by the virus, what greater time is there to exercise than now and lower the numbers? And as a good rule of thumb, we should be more active in order to live long, healthy lives.

Creativity & Helping Others

Third, we have a chance to be uniquely creative while helping others. Even if you’re someone who is technically and mathematically focused, you get the chance to think of more creative solutions while helping others. It’s basically a win-win. A lot of people need help getting groceries or need a safe but social interaction. Just look at how many people dropped off supplies for their friends and stopped by in their cars to say they were thinking of them? Can you remember a time where this was a consistent event?

Community

Fourth, our community is becoming more active. With the busyness of every day life and the disconnect technology automatically creates, it can be hard to remain an active member of the community you live in. So, to see that neighborhoods and towns and cities are coming together to support one another is a great sign! Yes, it might have taken quarantine to force a selfless view on the masses, but it was the choice of the community to act on that view and truly love and care for neighbors.

Hope

And fifth, quarantine and the virus will not last forever. Have hope! It may look like it will never end and we’ll be forced to wear masks years from now. But I’m telling you that we will pull through this, just as plenty other nations and countries already have. It is a beautiful day outside. We have air to breathe. Food and water to live. Friends and family to love. And new chances to make this world a better place. Don’t let the negatives get you down. Focus on the positives more, my friend. There’s no harm in doing so!

All my love,
